Reimagining Neurodevelopmental
Research: Leading with Love, Holding on to Hope, and Centering
Co-Creation

This paper is in conversation with

It discusses how research on neurodiverse individuals and their experiences needs to change. It suggests that instead of only focusing on the deficit side of neurodiversity and using only clinical methods, researchers should also include space for personal narratives, love, hope, and co-creation.

The paper follows interviews with two psychologists,  Dr. Lauren McGrath and Rachelle Johnson, both of whom study learning disabilities. It emphasizes the importance of creating space for and listening to people’s real-life experiences.

The goal is to encourage others to create research practices that are more caring, inclusive, and supportive of everyone involved.

This image features a large, stylized heart with a maze-like pattern, pierced by a blue arrow. Across the heart, the text "CRAFTING the FUTURE" is prominently displayed, suggesting a focus on actively shaping what lies ahead. Below the heart, there is a vibrant, abstract illustration of several people engaging with each other, expressing ideas through speech bubbles—one with a fist symbol and another with a heart—indicating themes of solidarity, love, and collective effort. The overall message appears to emphasize collaboration, creativity, and intentional action in building a better future.
