Reimagining Neurodevelopmental
Research: Leading with Love, Holding on to Hope, and Centering
Co-Creation

It discusses how research on neurodiverse individuals and their experiences needs to change. It suggests that instead of only focusing on the deficit side of neurodiversity and using only clinical methods, researchers should also include space for personal narratives, love, hope, and co-creation.
The paper follows interviews with two psychologists, Dr. Lauren McGrath and Rachelle Johnson, both of whom study learning disabilities. It emphasizes the importance of creating space for and listening to people’s real-life experiences.
The goal is to encourage others to create research practices that are more caring, inclusive, and supportive of everyone involved.
